GOD is with you in all you do. Really?

If God tells you, as He told Joshua, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go/ in all you do” (Jos 1.9), you’ll probably think that you are now under a covenant, under covering, under special grace and favour and so, you can now do WHATEVER or go WHEREVER you want. You’ll think that you are free to travel where you want; to settle where you want; to buy a house where you want; to accept any job you want; to marry whoever you want and join whichever business venture you want; will you not?
Well, if that’s the case, read 1Chr 17:1-4. David wanted to build a temple for the Lord. He didn’t like the fact that he was living in a house while the Ark of the Covenant sat in a tent. What a noble project! What a noble desire! He mentioned this to Prophet Nathan and the prophet approved, saying: “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.” Nathan knew David and he knew the hand of God was on him. Nathan was God’s mouthpiece; so, God had spoken and David could start the works. However, that very night, God spoke to Nathan and asked him to tell David that he would not be the one who would build the House of the Lord…
There was nothing wrong with the project; it was not just the right time and the right man… Sometimes, we foresee certain things in the spirit and rush to do them, without taking the time to find out the when and the how of those things…

Lesson: God’s will is not always obvious and easy to know. God is with you in ALL you do, really means that He is with you in ALL you do; but it also means that you cannot necessarily do ALL that you want. Furthermore, even an anointed man of God can sometimes be wrong in advising you.
The good news is this: if you really want to please the Lord; if your heart is entirely devoted to Him, you will always discover His will (see Jn. 7:17). For instance, because David wanted to please the Lord and was really concerned about God’s business, God rectified Nathan’s mistake and David was able to do the right thing.

Have a great week in Christ Jesus!
